The Story

I am Isaac, and music has always been my bridge between worlds. My professional journey began with a curiosity for language and sound, leading me to study Mandarin Chinese and tour China between 2010 and 2012, performing traditional Chinese music. It was there I first saw how melody transcends borders.

During my time in Zimbabwe, I leaned into the power of song as a tool for change. Working as a Community Peer Educator and Advocate with NGOs like the Musasa Project and the Adult Rape Clinic, I used music to raise awareness for sexual and gender-based violence, writing and producing jingles for women’s empowerment and human rights.

I am a storyteller at heart. My music explores everything from social themes and the meaning of life to gospel and personal truth—always looking for those heartfelt moments that make people feel. This fascination with the depth of language and sound is what eventually led me to a Master’s in Applied Linguistics.

I’ve brought that same spirit of connection to East Sussex. I host regular Acoustic Open Mics in Eastbourne and Seaford and founded Zac J Media—a home for music that usually gets lost in the noise, giving a platform to emerging talent.

Today, my work as a child support worker and my studies in music therapy inform everything I create. I’m fascinated by the link between music and emotional regulation, often combining sounds like guitar with mbira and tongue drum to feed a musical curiosity that goes beyond the ordinary. I love how a specific rhythm can help us find our center. This is the heart of the Slow Music movement and my Soul & Strings sessions: soulful, UK Indie Folk with an African feel designed to help people breathe a little easier.

I’m glad you’re here.
